Fame and Money

Ok...so maybe I dont have no money....and no REAL fame, but my vague stare did make the local Messenger newspaper. Gotta say its a refreshing change to get a write up as an artist and not a punk street kid doing 'graff'.

But I think they just liked that I said 'contraversial'.

For a closer read just click on the picture and it will open up nice and large.

Anyways on another tip the weekend has seen me slaving away on a graciously lent Apple laptop, getting the keyboard all grimed up with my painterly fingers, whilst designing a flier for an upcoming SALA (South Australian Living Artists) festival event. It's been good to get back on a computer to do some design work again, I've been thinkin it's time to spend some soft-earned cash and buy an Apple for myself. Laptop or PC I cant decide!? The problems that plague my mind. Laptop.

'No Sell Out' program photossssss....Tuesday the group got to designin' then workin' on some boards to be put up at the local Aldinga primary school...despite having to pull some young bucks into line, once the group got painting we saw some focused faces and suddenly life didnt seem so hard. peep some photo proof....

Aloha. Jesus to be updated after this weekend no doubt - and I predict some photos of another mural thats tormenting my soul....til then, or before....

Exhibitions/murals/Jesus & more...

Wow. I can’t believe it’s only 10 days since my last post. So much has happened, where to begin?

I guess it makes sense to start from the first thing I can think of…

Last Friday was the awards night for the King of Canvas aerosol art competition. The entries were impressive and so was the food. They had these amazing little soft pink coconut balls that were just incredible. A good night had by all. I was happy to take home a prize pack for the ‘Best Character’ category (pictured).1st and 2nd place and a hefty $3500 went to a happy chap from Queensland by the name of Sauce. Check him out at www.aerograffix.com.au

Well it’s been nearly a week since Jesus arrived, covered head to toe in bubble wrap(refer to my last post). Currently he’s serving as a convenient hat/undies rack in my lounge room (no disrespect!) waiting for me to get to work on him. I plan to get started on him this long weekend so hopefully I will have some progress shots uploaded this coming week!

On that note, I did some shameless self - promotion and managed to score myself some press for the project. Including some radio time and a spot in the local Messenger. I will post details and photos as I get them…

Amongst the more exciting things I’ve been up to, I’ve also been busy with some more community – minded work. Including co-coordinating a regular aerosol art program for young people called ‘No Sell Out’, currently painting a series of murals on a local toilet block, and a similar canvas painting program called ‘Piecing it together’ alongside the amazing Nish Cash (Check her out at www.myspace.com/lady_krownruler ) run by the City of Marion council. The finished pieces will be exhibited and donated to the Flinders mental health ward.

In the between time I have had the pleasure of working with one of Adelaide’s favorite street artist’s, STORE, on an little upcoming show entitled ‘Black & Gold’ which should entail a whole bunch of affordable pieces for all you poor art types that want to buy art…
~ Coming Soon

This week has been non-stop, the last 3 days have been spent working on a large-scale mural on the side of the National Australia Bank on South Road, Morphett Vale, with a group of talented young aerosol artists. The mural was designed by fellow can-man, the talented Morris Green, who is also coordinating the painting. Plans are to have the mural completed by Monday the 9th of June so more photo evidence to come!

Lastly but not leastly – Thursday night was the opening night for the Schaffa’s toy exhibition, a wonderful creation of Adelaide artists Chris Edsa and Sam Barratt. The night was a massive success and you can see the proof as well as my contribution (under aka Org£n) at www.screamdance.com/schaffas73.html

I'm not exactly sure how I've managed to fit that much and more into the last 2 weeks but I guess thats the way it rolls out when youre busy having fun...

Til next time....Adios Muchachos!
