It was his last day in Kings Cross, before heading home to the small-smoke of Adelaide. After weeks of intensive film workshops, working on sets with the likes of Jacky Chan, it was time to say goodbye to the big-smoke that is Sydney and return home to the unknown next chapter of his life and career as a budding artist/ film maker.

Sitting in the side street café, I drew as we drank green juice and mused about family and the fast-paced disorientation of big city life. Forming friendships in such a transient city can be a strain, so the presence of a face with familiarity and home-town warmth is a treasure.

I will miss having this lanky, long-necked and sincere bohéme on my side of the fence; and I wish all-the-well that this marvellous man deserves.
